10 Amazing Teas to help start your tea journey

Tea comes in many different varieties, each with its distinct flavor profile and characteristics. In this blog post, we will take a closer look at popular tea types, such as green, black, oolong, and white. Discover the differences between these varieties and find out which one suits your taste preferences. As a beginner in the tea community, it can be overwhelming. This guide is to help you with the beginning of your tea journey. In this guide, I will suggest different tea in different categories of tea.

  • White Tea: Made from young tea buds with minimal processing.
  • Green Tea: Non-oxidized tea, produced by quickly heating or steaming the leaves to halt oxidation.
  • Oolong Tea: Partially oxidized tea, with a range of oxidation levels depending on the desired flavor.
  • Black Tea: Fully oxidized tea, resulting in dark leaves and robust flavors.

If you have never tried any of these different types of tea and none of these sounds appealing to you, go to a store online or in person and look at what it says about the tea, the flavors it says it tastes like and see what on sounds the best to you! You don’t need 100 teas to try you can just start with one tea at a time.

White tea:

1. Purple bud from MEI-LEAF. this is my favorite white tea, it has a peachy flavor with a floral aftertone. It is very unique in flavor and a very refreshing white tea. I like the second steep the most of this tea. here is the link to buy the tea

2. Heirloom Silver Needle. I haven’t personally had this tea, but based on the recommendations of people I trust, they have raved about it. According to the website, it is described as having flavors reminiscent of cooked soya milk and nougat with green grapes. Green Tea:

I suggest you start with a Gunpowder green tea, a sencha, and a good high-quality ceremony matcha. with these three you will learn the great variety of Green tea has to offer.


Here are some of my suggestions. Starting with Gunpowder green tea, Sencha, and ceremony-grade matcha will indeed provide you with a range of green tea experiences. Each of these teas has its own unique characteristics and brewing methods.

  1. Gunpowder Green Tea: Gunpowder green tea is a classic Chinese tea known for its tightly rolled leaves, which resemble small pellets or gunpowder. When brewed, it unfurls to release a full-bodied and slightly smoky flavor. It’s a great choice for those who enjoy a bold and robust cup of tea.
  2. Sencha: Sencha is a popular Japanese green tea known for its vibrant green color and refreshing taste. It has a grassy, vegetal flavor with a slightly sweet and nutty undertone.

Oolong Tea:

Oolong tea is considered the middle ground between black tea and green tea. It offers a diverse range of flavors and characteristics, making it a unique and enjoyable tea category. Let’s explore your suggested Oolong teas:

  1. Organic Darjeeling Ruby Oolong Tea: Organic Darjeeling Ruby Oolong Tea is in a class of its own. This velvet-smooth tea weaves the flavors of ripe black cherries into luscious figs.
  2. Noble Concubine Oolong Tea: Noble Concubine Oolong Tea, named after Yang Gui Fei, is one of the four famous beauties in Chinese literature, this tea is sweet, rich, and intoxicating.
